Google's tool for virtually trying on clothes is now available in the US

At I/O 2025 in May, Google previewed a new AI-powered feature the company said would simplify online shopping. The tool allows you to upload a single, full-body photo of yourself to "try on" different pieces of clothing you find online. Following a limited preview, Google has begun rolling out the feature to users in the US. You can start trying on clothing for yourself by tapping the "try on" icon on any product listing on Google or apparel product result you find on Google Images. Powering the experience is an image generation model Google trained to take into account how different materials fold, stretch and drape across different human bodies. According to Google, the model supports billions of clothing items found across the company's Shopping Graph, meaning their may be some outfits the AI will have a hard time parsing. However, most clothing items from popular retailers should be supported out of the gate. With today's release, Google has also enhanced the price-tracking functionality built into the feature. Naturally, you can specify the color and size you want, but Google also allows you to set the price you want to pay for the item. It's possible to configure the watch so you're only alerted after the product you want dips below a specific price. "The Shopping Graph has products and prices from all across the web — so we’ll let you know when there’s an offer that meets your criteria," says Google. "No more constantly checking to see if that bag you’re eyeing is finally at the right price for you or forgetting to come back to a product you loved."Later this year, Google plans to bring additional shopping features to AI Mode, the dedicated AI tab the company began rolling out to everyone in the US this past May. Come this fall, you'll be able to explore outfit and decor ideas — and buy what suits your fancy — directly from the chat bot. Nature-inspired process makes wood tougher than steel for structural use

A research team led by the University of the Basque Country (EHU), together with Wuhan University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), was inspired by naturally occurring processes that give rise to fossilized wood (known as ancient buried wood), to develop a wood material that offers remarkable structural performance (termed as "BioStrong Wood" by the authors). Using the adequate combination of mechanical, chemical and biological treatments, it has been possible to modify the internal structure of the wood, achieving a level of mechanical resistance that exceeds that of stainless steel.

A couple accused funeral homes in Philadelphia and Georgia of inadvertently sending them their deceased son’s brain.Lawrence and Abbey Butler filed a lawsuit against Nix & Nix Funeral Homes in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as Southern Cremations & Funerals in Georgia.According to the lawsuit, the couple’s son, Timothy Garlington, died back on Nov. 15, 2023. He was 56-years-old, according to his parents. While Garlington was from Philadelphia, he lived in Georgia at the time of his death. The Butlers said they hired Southern Cremations & Funerals as well as Nix & Nix Funeral Homes to handle their son’s funeral arrangements. The lawsuit claims Southern Cremations & Funerals in Georgia transported Garlington’s body to Nix & Nix Funeral Homes in Philadelphia on Nov. 20, 2023. When the Butlers received their son’s personal items, they noticed a white, unmarked box, according to the lawsuit. The couple said they noticed something inside the box began to smell and leak fluid in their car. They then discovered their son’s brain and brain matter was inside the box, according to the lawsuit.L to R: A photo of Timothy Garlington, a photo of the box where Garlington’s parents say his brain was inside. The lawsuit accuses the funeral homes of negligence in their handling of human remains as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress. The Butlers are represented by attorneys L. Chris Stewart and Alex Perwich of Stewart Miller Simmons Trial Attorneys in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as Samuel Anyan, Jr. of Wapner Newman in Philadelphia. The couple, along with their attorneys, spoke with the media on Thursday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at the Wapner Newman law offices in Center City.“It was and it is still in my heart,” Lawrence Butler said while fighting back tears. “That I got in my car and I smelled death. I just, again, as our attorney said, we just pray that this doesn’t ever happen to anyone else again. And it’s just, I had to get rid of that car. I just couldn’t stand the idea that the remains was in that car.”Stewart told reporters that his clients have not received an apology or an explanation from either funeral home. “To this day they don’t know if their son’s remains that were in the box were buried with the body,” Stewart said. “They have no earthly idea what happened.” You can view the lawsuit here or in the document embedded below. The owner of Nix & Nix Funeral Home told NBC Philadelphia his team did not know any brain matter was inside the box. He said his team believed the box held personal effects and they did not open the box to see what was inside. The owner said when another funeral home sends remains to them, everything should be intact. They said the state board did a thorough investigation and cleared them of wrongdoing. NBC Philadelphia reached out to the Pennsylvania State Board of Funeral Directors to learn more about any investigations into the matter. A spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department of State said they cannot confirm or deny whether any licensee is under investigation or has been under investigation. The owner also said his team is working with their lawyer to discuss next steps. In a search of Pennsylvania’s Department of State’s website, NBC10 did not find any disciplinary actions published for Nix and Nix Funeral Home. She’s one of two Black members of Congress currently representing Alabama, one of 7 ever to represent Alabama, and the first Black woman elected to Congress from Alabama.During her tenure, Congresswoman Terri Sewell has sponsored 7 bills that have been enacted into law, and has sponsored 6 bills, so far in, the 119th Congress.Congresswoman Sewell serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and as Ranking Member of the Oversight Subcommittee of that Committee (the first Black woman to hold a leadership role on the Committee since it was established in 1789). Rep. Terri Sewell also serves on the Committee on House Administration, where she serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Elections of that Committee.Congresswoman Terri Sewell is a champion for recognizing and honoring freedom fighters and she’s been leading the charge to restore voting rights, as the author and lead sponsor of the John Robert Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (for 6 consecutive Congresses).
