Paetongtarn Shinawatra had been suspended by the court after it accepted a petition from 36 senators that accused her of dishonesty and breaching ethical standards. The petition was triggered after a leaked phone call between Shinawatra and former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen emerged. Analysts told CNBC that the way forward for Thailand is uncertain, even if she is restored to the prime ministership.Following the suspension of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra Tuesday by the country’s Constitutional Court, analysts are seeing a troubled future for the Southeast Asian nation.Paetongtarn had been suspended by the court after it accepted a petition from 36 senators that accused her of dishonesty and breaching ethical standards. It followed a leaked phone call between Paetongtarn and former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, in which she criticized a Thai military commander overseeing a border dispute with Cambodia while appearing to appease the Cambodian strongman, according to critics. The suspended prime minister now has 15 days to respond to the allegations. Thailand’s current acting prime minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, is its sixth in just two years.“I think there is no way she returns to being PM again as this is now a concerted effort by the military and its allies to finally finish off the Shinawatras, including, more importantly, Thaksin,” Joshua Kurlantzick, Senior Fellow for Southeast Asia and South Asia at the Council of Foreign Relations told CNBC.Kurlantzick was referring to Thaksin Shinawatra, the father of Paetongtarn and Thailand’s prime minister from 2001 to 2006. Yingluck Shinawatra, the younger sister of Thaksin, was Thailand’s first female Prime Minister from 2011 to 2014.The fallout from the leaked call saw the Bhumjaithai Party, the second-largest party in her governing coalition, withdraw from the alliance, leaving Shinawatra with only a razor-thin margin in Thailand’s lower house. While it is plausible that Shinawatra’s Pheu Thai party could hold on to power for now, Kurlantzick said that the government “would be very shaky” and could collapse “in a month or two.” He added that Pheu Thai is “super unpopular now.”Sreeparna Banerjee, associate research fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, told CNBC that even if Shinawatra is restored as PM, “her authority and coalition will remain fragile.”Instability undermining recoveryThe political instability could affect Thailand’s efforts to revive its economy, which is currently facing weak tourism numbers and looming tariffs from the Trump administration.Banerjee said that without a stable head of government, “Thailand’s ability to respond decisively to external economic pressures, such as potential U.S. tariffs, will be limited.”Under President Donald Trump’s so-called “reciprocal” tariffs announced in April, Thailand faces a 36% levy if no deal is reached with the U.S. by July 9, when Trump’s 90-day suspension on the “reciprocal tariffs” ends. She also added that while the country will continue with policies from Paetongtarn’s government focusing on stimulus measures and boosting export competitiveness, an absence of strong leadership at the top could hinder their implementation and complicate trade negotiations.“Investor confidence may weaken, and bureaucratic inertia could delay critical responses, at a time when Thailand urgently needs clear direction and coordination to revive its sluggish economy.”The World Bank on Thursday sharply downgraded Thailand’s full-year growth forecast for 2025 to 1.8%, down from 2.9%, and also cut its 2026 projection to 1.7% from 2.7%.Thailand’s economy grew 3.1% year over year in the first quarter of 2025, and 2.5% for the full year of 2024. Such pessimism is also seen in Thailand’s markets, with the country’s SET index plunging by around 20% for the year to date.Paul Gambles, co-founder of investment advisory group MBMG Group told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia” that tariffs may not be Thailand’s largest problems. Instead, he said that the issues in the domestic economy are prevailing.“A lot of long-term structural issues are coming to the fore for Thailand at the wrong time, the worst possible time.”While Thailand’s household debt is at five-year lows, the debt level as a ratio of GDP is higher than its Southeast Asian peers, raising concerns about consumption and economic growth. Its key tourism sector is also under pressure, with total tourist arrivals down 12% year over year in the first six months of 2025, government data showed. Tourist arrivals from China, which was Thailand’s largest tourist market, plunged 34% year over year in the same period.Local media reported that the country is likely to miss its target of 39 million tourists in 2025, citing the Association of Thai Travel Agents.Status quoThailand’s political stasis will continue for a while, CFR’s Kurlantzick said.In 2023, the Move Forward party, led by the charismatic Pita Limjaroenrat, stunned Thailand’s military elite and royalists with an electoral victory. However, the party failed to form a government due to opposition in the military-appointed senate over its campaign to amend Thailand’s lese-majeste law. It was dissolved by the constitutional court a year later, leading to the formation of the People’s Party, which is now the main opposition force.“Maybe eventually... some kind of other coalition the military likes emerges in parliament. Maybe a new election [will happen] and the military tries to prevent the opposition from gaining a majority,” Kurlantzick said.MBMG’s Gambles said, “Domestic political turmoil in Thailand is hardly news. It’s more likely just the standard operating procedure, to be honest.”“We might get a change of Prime Minister. We may get major changes in Parliament, in the cabinet. But I think it will still be the same old, same old, business as usual.”

A FOIA request revealed the letters sent to Apple and big tech over the TikTok ban, and they claim the law wouldn't be enforced due to it interfering with the President's management of foreign affairs.Lack of TikTok ban enforcement due to Article II interpretationTikTok was banned originally due to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act that was signed into law under the Biden administration, though it was brought about by President Trump's desire to ban the app. However, he changed his tune when he discovered his supporters used the platform, so he signed an executive order immediately after being sworn in that would delay the ban in the hopes a deal would be made.Fast forward 75 days, then 75 days again, and the ban has been delayed three times total as no deal has been made. In that time, Apple restored TikTok to the App Store, not because it was legal, but because the Attorney General said the DOJ wouldn't enforce the law. Stefano Rellandini/AFP via Getty ImagesOne of Lauren Sánchez’s wedding outfits was stolen days after her “wedding of the century” with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 61. According to Italian newspaper Corriere del Veneto, one of the 27 dresses that Sánchez, 55, had for her three-day wedding extravaganza seems to have been stolen, and the prime suspect is a wedding crasher. The paper reported that among the handful of people trying to sneak into the wedding, one elegantly dressed woman was able to make it through security without an invitation Friday. The unknown party crasher managed to get onto the Venetian island San Giorgio Maggiore, where the nuptials took place, before being “kindly escorted out.” She was later checked to see if she was carrying the missing dress, but nothing was found on her so she was let go. None of her personal details were recorded, and it is unclear which designer brand the dress was from. Sánchez faced other fashion setbacks during her wedding, her Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown reportedly catching on fire, but not the one she exchanged her vows in. She told Vogue that her high-neck Dolce & Gabbana gown was “a departure from what people expect,” but “it’s very much me.”Read it at Daily MailRead more at The Daily Beast.

States are accusing the federal government of breaching long-standing laws protecting Medicaid recipients’ private health data by secretly sharing it with federal immigration authorities.California Attorney General Rob Bonta recently filed a lawsuit on the part of a multistate coalition challenging the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) decision to provide “unfettered access to individual personal health data to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),” arguing that it violates federal law, “threatens to erode trust in the healthcare system, and deters vulnerable populations from seeking care.”For over 70 years, federal law has treated Medicaid beneficiaries' personal and medical information as confidential, to be shared only in limited circumstances that support public health or the integrity of the program. Also Read: Trump Administration’s Health Agency Overstepped Authority, Reorganization Unlawful: CourtHowever, in June 2025, this policy was upended when the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) under the HHS allegedly transferred ...Full story available on Benzinga.com

Adults may experience anxiety when facing adversity. The EURUSD has reversed all the declines from the "stronger" US jobs data. The move lower started at 1.17858 and moved to a low of 1.17163. The rebound high reached up to 1.1789, before rotating back lower. Looking at the hourly chart, the rotations, the price moved back above the swing area between 1.1753 to 1.17688 and the 100 hour MA (blue line), but is now back below the 100 hour MA. Traders are getting whipped around and not liking it.The USDJPY, however, is keeping most of the gains and the corrective move lower off the high did hold support. Looking at the hourly chart below, the spike higher earlier rose above the 200 hour MA at 144.549 and back above the 50% at 145.062. The high price reached to 145.22.The rotation lower did move back below the 50% level but has been able to hold support at the 200 hour MA at 144.549. The price is back up testing the 50% currently. Move above should be more bullish. Although the jobs report was "stronger" in number, there is some ambiguity from the mix. Government jobs – local and state mainly - accounted for half of the gains jobs for the month. Goods producing jobs were negative. My guess is that Pres. Trump would've preferred having no government jobs and a tamer number so that he could continue his commentary toward Fed chair Powell for rate cuts. With the unemployment rate moving down to 4.1% and nonfarm payroll jobs adding over 140,000, stumping for rate cuts the head of potential inflation from tariffs, is a difficult task.US yields remain higher with the two-year up 9.1 basis points to 3.8799%. Donald Trump has consistently railed against Fed Chair Jay Powell, a man the president himself nominated in his first administration, but Powell has reportedly just been given the "upper hand."Trump has nicknamed Powell "too late" in connection with the Fed chair's refusal to bow to Trump's will when it comes to U.S. interest rates. But Powell has just been given the "upper hand," journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin said Wednesday.Sorkin says the numbers set up a "very interesting conversation about what President Trump, for example, would ultimately say right now to a Jay Powell. who course, runs the federal reserve.""Just overnight, if you saw, you had the president saying that Jay Powell should be resigning from his role because he should be lowering interest rates," Sorkin said. "This morning, I think this jobs number would give Jay Powell the upper hand to say, look, the reason I'm not lowering interest rates is the economy actually continues to be quite good, which is something you'd think that the president would enjoy and like."He added, "Nonetheless, I think the chance right now of interest rates going lower anytime soon is taken off the table a bit this morning as a function of these jobs numbers."Watch below or click the link.

MARVEL Mystic Mayhem isn't the easiest of games to navigate if you're going the F2P route (free-to-play).While you can progress fairly without spending any money, the resource crunch hits hard and does so fairly quickly. In terms of generosity, NetEase could do better, especially with the premium currency. But you can still ensure steady progress with a bit of planning. Doing so will allow you to hit level 40 within the first five days, and things should get easier from that point. How to progress a F2P player in MARVEL Mystic MayhemAs with any gacha, the trick is to carefully manage your resources, because you won't have a plethora of them. First, you have to understand one core idea: as a F2P player, you're not going to have every character (especially the 3-star names, as they're way harder to get). The first important step is to clear all the daily activities before your energy can recharge. Unlike the Story and Memento modes, activities like Treasure Hunts consume energy. You can have a total of 240 energy at any given time. Try to always keep this under 240, as you will stop gaining it if you're beyond the threshold.Image via Exptional GlobalSecond, how do you spend your keys? There are two types: one that is used on the evergreen banner, and the other, which is used on rate-up banners. Both banners have a hard pity set at 80. If you want to use your Crystals (aka Dreamgems) for buying keys, always spend on the keys required for opening the rate-up banners. As a free-to-play, I believe there's a better way to spend your Crystals. But before that, let me explain a bit more about the evergreen banner. The evergreen banner doesn't have all 3-star characters available in MARVEL Mystic Mayhem. However, the banner doesn't have an end date, which makes it feasible for you to hit the hard pity. Moreover, you're guaranteed a random 3-star once you complete 40 pulls. Screenshot by DestructoidThe pool of heroes (that you get after 40 pulls) includes Emma Frost, Juggernaut, Thor, and Doctor Strange. All four characters are top tiers in their respective roles, so they're all worth it (especially at 40 pulls). Your first objective is to complete every available event quest to earn as many keys as possible, but don't spend your Crystals.Coming to the Crystals: you can use them on the Premium banners (aka rate-ups), but you're better served by using them to buy Energy Orbs. When you're just starting, you'll be gated by your player level. The only way to consistently raise it is by playing the daily activities, but that requires energy. Once you've finished your available quota, you can use the Crystals to buy Energy Orbs (30 Dreamgems for 60 Energy) and earn more XP without having to wait for the daily refresh. This is a better way to spend your premium currency rather than hoping to get lucky on the Rate-Up banners.Don't get me wrong; you can still get lucky with the banners and pull a top-tier character. But that essentially depends on a tiny percentage, or you'll have to guarantee 80 pulls (that way, you're confirmed of a 3-star character). Instead, spending your Crystals to quicken your leveling up is much more beneficial in the long run. Doing so will also get you more keys from various objectives and get you closer to the 80-pull mark on the evergreen banner.Screenshot by DestructoidAs of writing, you can reset your characters and get back all the invested materials. It's the best time to build up as many characters as possible. Doing so not only gives you a well-rounded roster, but you can also get more Crystals from completing character milestones. You can always reset the ones that you won't need in the long run, but those extra Crystals will be yours to keep. That's pretty much all you need to know about managing your hard-earned resources if you're not spending any money. Always be on the lookout for additional time-limited events that NetEase will release periodically. Those will be extra sources of rewards to build up your roster as we get more content in the future. The post Best free-to-play (F2P) guide for MARVEL Mystic Mayhem appeared first on Destructoid.

Get ready to maybe see them in-game in Marvel Rivals in a few years.Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen recently said in an interview with VideoGamer that the game's development team is "licensed to explore the full Marvel universe" and draw from "over 85 years" of weird, obscure, and unique characters. With a new hero set to launch every month starting with season three on July 11, this basically means that things are going to get weird.Screenshot by DestructoidThere is no shortage of weird and silly characters in Marvel, and the list gets especially big when you dive deep into the expansive roster of the most obscure heroes and villains. Marvel Rivals already has some unique ones in Jeff the Land Shark and Squirrel Girl, but it could only get odder from there. While NetEase is currently set to "focus on the heavy-hitters" like season three's additions of Jean Grey/Phoenix and Blade, Chen said the team will eventually "shine a light on some lesser-known yet equally fascinating characters." Oh yeah, this is gonna get fun. There's a long list of animal-like or anthropomorphic characters to continue the trend, such as Howard the Duck, Hit-Monkey, Spider-Ham, Hellcow, Frog-Man, Swarm, Lockjaw, Orka, and Gibbon. Jeff likely won't be the only animal in the game for long. And then there's humanoid characters like Paste Pot Pete and M.O.D.O.K. (already found mentioned within the files), or how about Doorman, who is literally a living doorway? Have you heard of Doctor Bong? Slapstick? Gamecock? Doop? Yeah, have fun googling some of these. And so I ask you, dear reader, which obscure or weird Marvel character do you hope to be playing as soon in Marvel Rivals? Answer our poll and let us know in the comments below. The post NetEase says no one is off-limits, so which odd or lesser known characters do you want to see in Marvel Rivals? appeared first on Destructoid.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals, a health system based in Raleigh, North Carolina, faced a significant challenge regarding its electronic health record. Dollars and quality points matter deeply to health systems, and the EHR is central to generating both revenue and quality scores.THE CHALLENGEHowever, improving the accuracy of documentation required asking physicians to spend more time in the EHR, which was already a major source of frustration and burnout. Research shows clinicians may need as much as two hours in electronic data entry beyond the exam room for every hour of direct patient contact – and physicians with insufficient time for documentation are 2.8 times more likely to report symptoms of burnout. This created a "rock and a hard place" situation for WakeMed because it needed better documentation for financial and quality outcomes but pushing harder in the EHR risked worsening physician wellbeing and job satisfaction. The more the organization pushed physicians to include detailed documentation, the more it felt like a burden."I heard from many of our clinicians, 'This isn't what I trained for – I trained to care for patients, not to code charts,'" said Dr. David Kirk, chief clinical integration officer at WakeMed. In this role, he leads and coordinates transformational innovation and analytics initiatives to support the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care. "But the reality is, if we don't document correctly, we miss out on the revenue we're owed and the quality scores we need. It's all connected."Unfortunately, these tasks aren't where most physicians or advanced practice providers thrive, especially coming out of COVID, when many are already exhausted," he continued. "We had to find a way to make the chart better while taking work off the clinician's plates, which led us to explore AI technology."PROPOSALTo solve the documentation accuracy challenges, WakeMed used a three-pronged approach that included data, people and technology components. From its extensive data work, the health system knew most of its opportunity was with patients seen by the hospitalist team. It installed an AI-powered clinical insights platform from vendor Regard and trained those physicians on its use."We provided a small amount of protected time to a hospitalist leader to help educate the group on the importance of the overall project and in our specific opportunities around clinical conditions," Kirk explained."The Regard application helps providers by suggesting diagnoses and related supporting evidence after reviewing 100% of a patient's electronic record," he added. "The application's at-the-elbow support was key in initial adoption and satisfaction."MEETING THE CHALLENGEThe AI-powered clinical insights technology helps WakeMed to directly address the documentation challenges physicians face within the hospital. The technology integrates with the EHR and works by reviewing and analyzing a chart to surface relevant clinical insight, summarize the patient's record, and enhance diagnoses with supporting evidence that would take significant time and effort for physicians to manually compile.By integrating the AI platform with the EHR and streamlining the charting process, WakeMed has been able to improve documentation accuracy and enhance coding and revenue capture – helping to address both operational and burnout-related challenges. For example, a physician might diagnose a patient with sepsis and begin treatment. The AI application, however, takes it further by pulling in multiple layers of clinical evidence to support that diagnosis, detailing the severity and contributing factors."This not only strengthens the documentation but also ensures the patient's condition is accurately represented, which is critical for appropriate reimbursement, quality scoring, and, most important, patient care," Kirk said."Currently, we've implemented Regard primarily with our hospitalist team, since they handle the majority of inpatient documentation," he continued. "These clinicians still review and finalize the information, but the AI application dramatically reduces the time needed to gather and organize data, enabling them to focus more on clinical decision making."There are plans to expand into other service lines like critical care. Eventually WakeMed will roll the application out to all physicians and advanced practice providers.RESULTSDespite being early in its documentary accuracy journey, WakeMed's results have been impressive."Using the AI application has led to $9.3 million in claims paid that might have been denied," Kirk reported. "Beyond reducing lost revenue, administrative burden and delayed payments, reducing denials helps reduce delays in care, ensuring patients receive their recommended treatment plans."Additionally, this has resulted in $871,000 in new revenue for Medicare Severity Diagnosis-Related Group, a system used by Medicare to determine how much to pay hospitals for inpatient stays," he continued. "This increase in reimbursement occurs because the hospital is demonstrating it treated a more complex, resource-intensive case. $871,000 in new revenue means better documentation allowed the hospital to more accurately reflect patient complexity and be paid accordingly."There also has been a 3% improvement in severity of illness, helping clinical teams recognize the full clinical picture and leading to more tailored, appropriate care plans, he added. This also facilitates better handoffs and transitions between providers by clearly communicating complexity."The technology also has led to a 3.6% improvement in CC/MCC capture rate, which contributes to more accurate Hospital Compare and CMS star ratings, which can affect public perception and reimbursement," he said.ADVICE FOR OTHERSOne of the biggest hurdles Kirk has seen when considering the adoption of AI-powered clinical insights technology isn't technical – it's cultural."Many physicians still view the chart primarily as a tool to tell the patient's story, and they may resist using tools that focus on documentation for risk adjustment, coding or revenue purposes," he observed. "As AI software improves and allows physicians to maintain their own unique styles in documentation, adoption will increase."Explaining why documentation improvement is important is key in adoption," he continued. "Although we know that documentation improvement drives revenue, clinicians are much more interested and excited about the improvements in risk-adjusted quality scores. Documentation accuracy allows the team to get credit in the various quality benchmarks for the amazing quality work they do."Kirk encourages provider organizations to involve physicians early on in the process, show them how the technology works, and demonstrate clearly and directly that it works to improve patient care and not just help the hospital."Accurate documentation isn't just about reimbursement, it's about ensuring continuity of care and giving the next clinician the full picture of the patient's condition," he concluded. "Focus on building trust, showing value and integrating the AI technology in a way that doesn't replace but supports the physician."Follow Bill's HIT coverage on LinkedIn: Bill SiwickiEmail him: [email protected] IT News is a HIMSS Media publication.WATCH NOW: How to launch a healthcare AI project, per the VA AI chief Enterprise Taxonomy: AIAnalyticsData and InformationExport Primary: AI
